Gig Theatre Workshop
Ever seen a piece of Gig Theatre?
Ever wanted to make a piece of Gig Theatre?
Ever wondered what Gig Theatre is?
Gig Theatre is a extraordinary emerging form which combines live music with theatrical storytelling to take an audience on a journey through a narrative. The form is especially good at engaging those who may not connect with traditional theatre forms and the conventions they are associated with.
In this workshop, Wildcard will explore this new genre and equip your pupils with the knowledge and understanding of how to begin creating their own pieces of Gig Theatre. Skilled facilitators, trained in the company’s easily digestible WILD method, will share Wildcard’s distinctive creative process, blending live music, song and spoken text, to create a unique theatrical experience that celebrates the live event and has the power to change perceptions of what theatre can be.
Through our unique use of drum machines and live looping we have made sure that this workshop is equally as accessible for those who are musically talented and those who have never picked up an instrument in their life! It’s all about playing, exploring and discovering how text and music can work together in a piece of Gig Theatre, in a fun, encouraging and wildly creative setting.
You can download our Gig Theatre Education Pack and watch our trailer above. We recommend a minimum of two hours for this workshop but it can adapted to be run in less time, if desirable. We can also run it as a full day workshop, or as a course with a few sessions spread out over a number of days across a term.
