WTC invites you to a swash-ripping and bodice-buckling reinvention of Alexander Dumas' classic adventure.
"Irreverent, irrelevant and completely irresponsible!" - Phillipe Maquet (Historian)
Serious seasonal fun for grown-ups.
Alexandre Dumas struck gold in 1844 when his most celebrated works appeared as two serials in Paris newspapers. Unlike The Count of Monte Cristo, which was almost entirely a product of Dumas' fertile imagination, The Three Musketeers was based on historical fact, and to this end Dumas employed the services of a 'research assistant', one Auguste Maquet. But the continued popularity of the novel has little to do with historical accuracy, and everything to do with the stirring, romantic and occasionally anarchic force with which Dumas brought his story to life. With this in mind WTC presents its own 'panto' version, in the spirit of the plays what Ernie Wise wrote and Eric Morecambe's equally enduring rendition of Grieg's Piano Concerto - containing all the right notes...but not necessarily in the right order.
Any similarity to great literature or any persons, living or dead, is entirely coincidental.
