Above all, feel positively inspired to stretch your potential. Weekly pre-work: short scene line-learning.
When: 4th May – 8th June
(6 week course every Tuesday)
Where: Wildcard Studios, 18 Balderton Street, London, W1K 6TG
During each full-day session, we’ll focus on specific theoretical aspects that will then be put into practice using various exercises and games, together with allocated scenes from mixed-genre plays. This practical mix of thinking and doing is designed to develop your curiosity, flexibility and specificity whilst maintaining your authenticity both as an actor and as a human being, so that you can easily trigger your own creative response. Peer feedback is an important part of the process, which gradually deepens into an impulse-led approach to enabling you to find truthful performance in any medium. Scenes will be allocated ahead of time to allow for line-learning.

‘The highlight of my week guaranteed for 6 weeks every Friday are The Actor’s Sixpack workshops. Without a doubt some of the best actor trainings I have had the pleasure to experience. Challenging and unique with the focal approach of confidence and empowerment to give the actor autonomy – enabling them to create the best work with minimal effort and quick practical techniques that can be used anytime- any audition (and in life ) with a mass of fun to boot. Cannot recommend highly enough.’ LIV
‘I’ve been a professional actor for 14 years. The last few have been tough and I’ve suffered from constant anxiety, lack of confidence, and lack of faith in myself and the art/business of acting itself. Over the past twelve months I have found very little to persuade me that it is worth continuing to pursue this path.
Having worked with Glynne as a director in the past, I decided to sign up to the Actors’ six pack as a means of deciding my future one way or the other. I never imagined that in such a short space of time (six days!) I would rediscover the incomparable joy that comes from complete immersion in scene and committing to character completely without self-consciousness or judgement. Within a very short space of time Glynne managed to get a room of twelve actors (many of whom didn’t know each other and were at a place in their career where they were also feeling insecure and full of doubt) working together, and fully supporting and constructively criticising each other’s work. He shared ideas and approaches to character and scene that I am already applying, both in my work as an actor and in daily life. The freedom and lack of fear in everyone’s performances increased staggeringly over the six weeks. Thanks to Glynne and the fantastic group of actors on this course, I feel newly empowered and have regained confidence in my ability. Playing on stage is once again thrilling rather than terrifying, and the future looks bright and exciting! I absolutely recommend the actors 6 pack to any actor who wants a safe but challenging space to play and push themselves. 5 out of 5!’ HOLLY
Glynne trained originally as an actor; has taught at RADA, DSL, DSM, The Showreel & LAW; directs short films and plays (including the double award-winning EMPTY BEDS at the Arcola/Edinburgh); runs Dangerosity, a free weekly drop-in workshop for professional actors every Tuesday evening along with dothinkdo, a leadership communication consultancy where non-actors learn how to act.
At Wildcard we believe everyone should have the chance to be creative. We want all our courses to be as open and inclusive as possible to anyone that wants to take part. We are aware that the cost of workshops and regular training is a key barrier in our industry for many people.
With this in mind, we are pleased to be able to offer 2 free places on each course.
If you are interested, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the workshop title as the subject and tell us a bit about you and why you feel that this would help you.
Bursary places will be offered out no later than 2 weeks before the course begins.
