This 3 hour introductory workshop will introduce and explore the basic principles and techniques that create safe, repeatable and convincing unarmed combat for stage and screen. The session will culminate in a short, choreographed fight performance with a partner.

- Collaboration and consent in dramatic combat

- How to sell a convincing attack.

- How to construct believable reactions.

- How to combine clear intention with physical action.

- How to work with a partner to tell a convincing physical story.

-The methodology behind all stage combat is designed to manage pre existing conditions, everything can be modified to the individual.

The session is open to anyone wanting to learn more about dramatic combat or those seeking a refresher on the fundamentals!

About Bethan

Bethan Clark is a Fight Director, Action Coordinator and Certified Teacher with the British Academy of Dramatic Combat.

Bethan has spent the last 8 years teaching combat, running specialist workshops and working as a professional Fight Director across the country. Bethan is a resident dramatic combat tutor at MetFilm School, Wimbledon School of Arts, University for the Creative Arts and Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.

Bethan originally trained as an actor, at Exeter University (BA Drama) and Drama Centre (MA Classical Acting). She worked as a professional actor and fight performer in theatre and film before training to be a dramatic combat teacher. Bethan brings her industry expertise in to the rehearsal room and aims to encourage and empower performers to fully invest in dramatic violence whilst remaining safe and repeatable.
