‘WERKshop’ is for queer creatives starting out, looking to define their voice, and learn the basics of building a queer practice and dare we say, a sustainable creative business. This is for those who need a bit of nurturing, a bit of thinking space and some explaining on what the heck you need to do to get ahead.

Across three weeks, ‘WERKshop’ we will spend time talking about you, what you want to do and how you are gonna get there. We’ll look at the boring but necessary admin a queerdo needs to keep afloat plus useful professional and personal strategies to keep us creative and sane. We’ll take a look at funding applications, budgeting and, most importantly, useful ways to get your ideas out into the world, crystal queer.
About Xnthony:
Xnthony (he/they) is an award winning performer, producer and writer making explosive theatre, cabaret and club werk through his production house Xnthony LTD. Xnthony’s new musical ‘Oliver Cromwell is Really Very Sorry’ premiers in Summer 2022 and has been funded by Arts Council England and Arts Council Ireland. Their practice has a specific focus on nurturing new, queer talent across UK and Ireland with the aim of removing the so called ladder to success, by challenging the system and raising artists up. Xnthony is the recipient of Arts Council Ireland Theatre Bursaries (2019, 2021) and has raised up to £120,000 of funding for Xnthony LTD’s creative ventures.

At Wildcard we believe everyone should have the chance to be creative. We want all our courses to be as open and inclusive as possible to anyone that wants to take part. We are aware that the cost of workshops and regular training is a key barrier in our industry for many people.
With this in mind, we are pleased to be able to offer 2 free places on each course.
