Insignificance by Terry Johnson

Directed by Andrew Potter

Take one epoch-shaping scientist, the tragic queen of Hollywood's blond bombshells, a fading baseball star and the most unhinged of crusading senators. Stir them together in a New York hotel room in 1953 and stand well back!

Albert Einstein, Marilyn Monroe, Joe DiMaggio and Senator McCarthy collide in Terry Johnson's tragi-comic masterpiece, with unpredictably explosive results.

Insignificance held its world premire at the Royal Court Theatre in 1982 and was voted one of the top one hundred plays in the NT2000 Platform series. It also won for its creator, Terry Johnson, the Evening Standard Theatre Award for 1982: Most Promising Playwright.
