Directing New Writing
with Anna Himali Howard
In this workshop with Anna, you will explore the links between directing, devising and dramaturgy, and how to make use of their influences on one another.
Join Anna in a discussion on taste, instincts and building your personal canon, as she discusses how to create and maintain artistic confidence whilst broadening your horizons.
Anna will be sharing some tools and exercises from across her creative process and will leave you with a handy mental toolbox of how to’s when directing new writing.

About Anna
Anna is a director and theatremaker. Her work as a director includes I WANNA BE YOURS by Zia Ahmed (Paines Plough/Bush Theatre), A SMALL PLACE by Jamaica Kincaid (Gate Theatre), ALBATROSS by Isley Lynn for NEW (RWCMD/Paines Plough/Gate Theatre).
As a theatremaker work includes JANE ANGER (Yard Theatre Live Drafts), MAHABHARAT/A by Anna Himali Howard and Zarina Muhammad (Camden People’s Theatre), THE BEANFIELD by Breach Theatre (New Diorama, National tour 2016).
Anna was Associate Director on FLEABAG by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Drywrite/Soho Theatre international tour). She was Paines Plough’s Trainee Director in 2016 and is an alumnus of the Birmingham REP Foundry. She was recently a Staff Director at the National Theatre, London.

At Wildcard we believe everyone should have the chance to be creative. We want all our courses to be as open and inclusive as possible to anyone that wants to take part. We are aware that the cost of workshops and regular training is a key barrier in our industry for many people.
With this in mind, we are pleased to be able to offer 2 free places on each course.
