INTRODUCTION TO PHYSICAL THEATRE with Phoebe Hyder INTRODUCTION TO PHYSICAL THEATRE with Phoebe Hyder 🤸‍♂️
This is a day long workshop providing you with an introduction to physical theatre and visual storytelling techniques: We will be exploring how we can create a visual narrative by making physical choices using different movement styles and building block principles. Working from a central stimulus the session will be a big playground for participants to explore movement and ‘physical theatre’ in its broadest sense so they can apply some of these ideas to their own work as: devisors, creators or performers.

Phoebe is a movement director (Associate member of the MDA) and physical theatre performer/dancer as well as yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance Professionals. After training in acting at GSA she has gone on to specifically work/train with Frantic Assembly, Gecko, Lecoq and Complicite. Phoebe draws from her experience with these various companies throughout her practice and sharing of work.

After a sell-out course in Shakespeare & Lecoq last term, Ed is back with his week long course in Half-Mask Shakespeare. 
Mornings will be spent warming up physically and vocally to play the masks and the afternoons will be dedicated to exploring how the heightened style of the masks brings the Shakespeare texts to life. Working from Shakespeare’s The Tempest you will fall in love with play again, and your mind will be opened to a whole range of possibilities in your acting.

Ed is an actor, director and teacher.
After having studied with Jaques Lecoq in Paris, Ed helped to run the theatre company, Partis-Pris, acted in Hollywood movies, Shakespeare with the RSC, in TV drama, and helped to devise many shows with the likes of Complicité, Improbable and Kneehigh.
Along the way, Ed won a Timeout Live award for directing Een Hond Begraven, and inspired a generation of drama school students with productions and movement at E15, Rose Bruford and Oxford School of Drama.
Ed now divides his time between teaching Feldenkrais Method, writing and exploring movement.

Ella is a writer and actor from London, working across Theatre, TV, Film & Radio. She also occasionally releases poetry.
Ella’s debut play THE PHLEBOTOMIST went on at the Hampstead Theatre Downstairs in 2018 to critical acclaim before transferring to its main stage in 2019. It was nominated for an Olivier Award, and was also a finalist for the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, and was adapted into a radio-play for BBC Radio3. Her next play FAIR PLAY (Bush Theatre) was due to premier in 2020, as was HOW TO EAT AN ELEPHANT (Theatre Royal Plymouth), but both have been postponed due to COVID-19 (dates TBA!). Theatre-wise, Ella is writing new play commissions for the Almeida Theatre and Hampstead Theatre.
Ella has just finished writing on the British series of CALL MY AGENT (Bron/Headline) and is currently working on the next series of DOCTOR WHO. She is also working on her own TV projects with Drama Republic and Element Pictures, and is writing a feature film with Liberty Films & Film4.
When she’s not in the engine room, Ella also mentors and teaches creative writing – from youth courses, to emerging writers, to work in prisons with Synergy Theatre. 
Ella trained at the Oxford School of Drama. She was a Soho Theatre Young Writer 2017/18, a Bush Theatre Emerging Writer 2018/19, and on the BBC Drama Writers Programme 2019/20.

Yami “Rowdy” Löfvenberg is a multidisciplinary artist working between the intersection of movement and theatre. Accolades;  As Movement Director, theatre includes Breakin’ Convention (Sadler’s Wells); Talawa TYPT (Hackney Showrooms); Boat (BAC); Fuck You Pay Me (Bunker), Rare Earth Mettle (Royal court). 
As a Director, theatre includes Kind of Woman (Camden People’s); Afroabelhas (Roundhouse/British Council /Tempo Festival Brazil.
As Assistant Director/Choreographer, theatre includes Hive City Legacy (Roundhouse, HOME, Millennium). She is a British Council and Arts Council England recipient, One Dance UK DAD Trailblazer Fellow, Marion North Recipient, and Talawa Make Artist. She was on the creative choreographic team for the 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony and is a member of performance collective Hot Brown Honey. 
She has a collaborative company called Passion & Purpose that focuses on dance management, creative projects, and artist progression.

Feast your eyes upon this brand new 4 week course with Fran Bushe on WRITING A ONE WOMAN SHOW. 
Across 4 workshops you will begin to flesh out, devise and structure a solo piece of theatre. Being able to create your own work is an incredible skill to have, but just because it’s a solo project doesn’t mean you have to work alone. The emphasis of these workshops is on collaboration, building new connections and trying new ideas in a supportive space.
This is a workshop for female-identifying writers, performers and anyone interested in the form. No experience necessary.

Fran Bushe is an award-winning comedian, writer and performer. She has had sold-out runs of her multi-award winning show Ad Libido, and wrote The Diary of My Broken Vagina for Channel 4 Comedy in 2019. In 2019 she won the Soho Theatre Tony Craze prize for her play A Gig for Ghosts.  She is an alumni of the Royal Court Writers Program & The Soho Theatre Writers Lab. Her first book My Broken Vagina was published with Hodder & Stoughton this year.
