Description

An Actor Prepares: Shakespeare

Donnacadh O’Briain, leads a series of tailored workshops for actors on how to approach, unpick and inhabit Shakespeare’s text.
Over five evenings actors will work in pairs and with the director to unlock the dramatic potential of their scene, making bold and exciting choices, routed in an intimate understanding of the text, and a freeing of the instinct. Actors will build tools that will enable them to tackle a complex and poetic script with confidence.
The sessions will utilise the classic Stanislavski questions, alongside exercises for bringing the text into the body and finding the impulse.
Actors will be given with the scene in advance.
Who Is this for?
The workshop is aimed at actors working in the profession, though recent drama school graduates will be considered. Numbers are kept low, to maintain the quality of the work.
