Description
Auditioning with Confidence
with Ruth O’Dowd CDG
This workshop will explore what draws us to a piece of writing, and how this can be applied in
a practical way, to make a positive impact in the audition room and beyond.
It will provide an opportunity to explore a piece you have always felt drawn to, but were
unsure of how to approach, especially if this was due to your ‘typical casting’.
There will be scope for group discussion around auditioning and the barriers performers face,
alongside the opportunity to explore what makes us invest in a piece, feel that excitement
about bringing it to life, and how to apply this methodology more generally in your practices
and preparation.
Please bring a piece roughly 90 seconds in length from something you have seen or read that
has had a visceral, lasting impact on you, and where possible something outside the remit of
what is considered your ‘typical casting’.
We are open to exploring forms outside the traditional monologue, bearing in mind the format
of a relaxed group discussion.
When: Saturday 21st August
Time: 1 - 4pm
Where: Wildcard Studios, 18 Balderton Street, W1K 6TG
