Approaching R&D

with Iskandar اسكندر bin Sharazuddin

Following on from his one-off workshop on approaching R&D last term, Iskandar returns with a more in depth look at R&D.

Research & Development (R&D) is something we all come across at some point as theatre-makers but what is it?

A cornerstone of the theatre-making process?
An excuse for aimless play around a theme?
A very specific process to test a piece of new writing?

This series of four workshops explores different methods of approach to R&D and what it means to nurture a creative space conducive to play and spontaneity, while acknowledging the importance of setting clear artistic objectives, after all, what are you going to tell the Arts Council?
Iskandar explores R&D from an image based creative practice using embodied movement, collaborative writing, and games designed to generate content.
Exploring a range of physical and text-based approaches to working, we will unpack, uncover, and understand what an R&D is and how it can help you whether you’re making your own work or someone else’s.
This workshop is for anyone interested in R&D, creatives & actors alike. However, it will include some physical work so please wear clothing you can move in.

When:

4 x Saturdays

5th March, 12th March, 19th March and 26th March

Time: 10am - 4pm

Where: Wildcard Studios, 18 Balderton Street, W1K 6TG
