Description

Songwriting

for Musical Theatre

with Tim Sutton

Join the award-winning composer Tim Sutton for this fun and stimulating session in songwriting for musical theatre. Starting with looking at song structures, and ending with the creation of your own song, you will amaze yourself with what you can do in a few hours.

What Will We Cover…
Using newspaper articles as source material, we will look at structuring songs in the classic AABA form. Why are so many world-class songs structured in this way? What are the classic examples of this form and why are they so effective and moving?
We will take a character from an animated film as the basis for a verse/chorus song. This will allow us to explore the world of comedy, and examine why verse/chorus has such potential to make us laugh and smile.
We will take the thoughts and questions that have arisen during the session and put them towards the creation of your own individual and personal song. You will amaze yourself with what you can achieve in one afternoon!

When:

Wednesday 19th January

Time: 1.30-5.30pm

Where: Wildcard Studios, 18 Balderton Street, W1K 6TG
